Room On The Broom Takes Off Over Easter at Dean Heritage Centre

Room On The Broom Takes Off Over Easter at Dean Heritage Centre

The Dean Heritage Centre (DHC), in the Forest of Dean, is delighted to announce the launch off its brand new Room on the Broom interactive woodland trail which officially opens across the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

From Friday 18th until Monday 21st April 2014 the DHC will be buzzing with activity as the official Gruffalo character hands over the reins to a new gang of lovable characters based of Julia Donaldson’s popular book ‘Room on the Broom’.

The official Gruffalo will be making regular appearances throughout the bank holiday weekend, along with a cackling witch and a mischievous dragon as the Centre kicks off a year of Room on the Broom magic.

Monday 21st April holds yet more excitement as Daryl Shute, producer of the Oscar nominated ‘Room on the Broom’ animated film, will be onsite to show screenings and talk through the process of taking the magical stories from book to screen. A ‘must see’ for any fans of the Donaldson books or those with an interest in animation and film.

Harri Le Claire, PR and Event Manager at the DHC said: “Following the success of our 2012 Gruffalo and 2013 Gruffalo’s Child woodland trails, we can’t wait to launch our Room on the Broom trail. The characters have been expertly carved by our talented chainsaw carvers and the launch event over the Easter weekend will be fun-filled for families and a fitting celebration of our fabulous new trail which will remain onsite until March 2015.”

As well as the woodland trail which features new interactive elements at each scene and a great photo opportunity at the end, the Centre will be screening the Room on the Broom Film; have brand new indoor trails; a "Witch and Chips" themed menu in the onsite cafe and a gift shop stocking a wide range of books, gifts, soft toys, bath products and tableware featuring the Room On The Broom characters.

Room on the Broom, is another charming story by author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler which tells the tale of a witch, her band of broom buddies and a fearsome, fire breathing dragon. For mischief and mayhem with mythical creatures and riveting rhymes, head down to the launch event this Easter at the Dean Heritage Centre.
