Kingsholm welcomes fans for the remainder of World Cup
Catch the rest of the games throughout the tournament for free on the big screen at Kingsholm Rugby Stadium
Kingsholm are opening their gates to rugby fans for the final few games of the Rugby World Cup 2015.
With a capacity of 6,000, residents and visitors alike can watch the remainder of the games on the big screen at the stadium, which is situated to the left of the shed.
The gates will be opening an hour before the matches begin, so will be open at 3pm on Saturday 17th October ready for this weekend’s quarter final between Wales and South Africa live from Twickenham which kicks-off at 4pm.
The stadium will stay open to share the battle between New Zealand and France straight from the Millennium Stadium from 8pm.
There will be refreshments available at the Shogun Bar, serving food and drink as they do on match days.
The stadium’s car park will have lots of activities and entertainment for visitors to get involved with.
Like the family zone, there will be a chance to tackle inflatable set tasks to practice passing, kicking and line out skills.
Supporters can also scrum down against the photo wall and snap a selfie from the selfie station
Cllr Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council, said, “It’s great that we can keep the excitement alive over the final weeks of the Tournament.
It’s been a fantastic experience being a host city for residents, businesses and visitors too. It’s great that we can continue to celebrate the spirit of rugby for the remainder of the World Cup, and keep up Gloucester’s participation in this spectacular event.”
There will be an exclusive opportunity for fans to come along the Gloucester Rugby First Team Squad go through their paces at an open training session on Sunday 18th October from 10.30am. The big screen will then light from 1pm as the Millennium Stadium welcomes Ireland and Argentina to battle it out for a place in the semi-finals. The final space for the semi-finals will be decided between Australia and Scotland, screened live from Twickenham from 4pm.
Entry is free, however it is on a first come first served basis, and as the bar is open, visitors are asked not to bring their own alcohol.
Kingsholm Stadium will also be open to show the Semi Finals, on Saturday 24th October from 3pm ready fro kick-off live from Twickenham at 4pm, and again from 3pm on Sunday 25th October also screening live action from Twickenham to determine who will meet in the final.
The Bronze Final will also be shown on Friday 30th October, with gates opening at 7pm ready for kick off at 8pm.
Kingsholm is open for a home match between Gloucester and Worcester Warriors at 2.30pm on Saturday 31st October. The Final of the World Cup kicks-off at 4pm – so viewing will be restricted to ticket holders of the Gloucester v Worcester game only unless capacity allows.
