UPDATE: ‘Pottering around the Cathedral’ Launch Night

Harry Potter at Gloucester Cathedral

Calling all witches, wizards and muggles. Gloucester Cathedral is holding a ‘Pottering around the Cathedral’ Launch Night.

A special event is taking place at Gloucester Cathedral to promote the launch of a new ‘Pottering around the Cathedral’ tour that is soon to become a regular featured tour.

On Thursday 29 October Harry Potter fans, film buffs or young muggles can experience an evening of magical proportions, so dig out your wands, hats and cloaks and dress up for the occasion.

On arrival, the famous sorting hat will be placed on your head to determine which house you will be joining, will you be a Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Slytherin or Ravenclaw student? After that, our smaller witches and wizards can collect a broomstick before flying off around the cloisters to find out what it was like behind the scenes when the Harry Potter movies were filmed here at Gloucester Cathedral. You will visit the very same locations used in the films, including the door to the Gryffindor Common Room, the corridor where the fateful words appeared, ‘The Chamber of Secrets has been opened’, and the pillar behind which Harry and Ron hid from the troll. Hear about the special effects and tricks used to transform the magnificent cloisters into the corridors of Hogwarts.

After your tour you can create your very own magic wand or owl to take home with you, but first, make sure you stop by to visit Honeydukes Sweet Table where there will be a delicious assortment of sweeties and cup-cakes with some Polyjuice Potion or Pumpkin Juice to wash them down with.

To take part in this exciting event, turn up on the night at 6.30pm, fancy dress is optional. Admission is £7.00 for adults and £5.00 for Children, free for under 5’s. Get your entrance ticket from the Cathedral Gift shop when you arrive. Tours will depart at 6.30pm and 7.15pm with three tour groups per time slot. Last entry will be at 7.15pm.

Don’t forget to bring your camera and have fun.
