Gloucester Guildhall shortlisted for NME’s Best Small Venue 2015

Gloucester Guildhall shortlisted for NME’s Best Small Venue 2015

The votes are in and Gloucester Guildhall has been shortlisted for NME’s illustrious Best Small Venue competition.

The music magazine launched its annual search in early October, prompting music fans across the country to vote for their favourite haunts. Gloucester’s gig goers have voted in their droves to put Gloucester Guildhall in the running to be crowned as the country’s best small venue.

Lise Noakes, cabinet member for culture and leisure at Gloucester City Council, said; “It’s fab that Gloucester Guildhall has made the shortlist for NME’s Best Small Venue 2015.

“Clearly a number of people feel like I do that an evening at Gloucester Guildhall is always one to be enjoyed.  They have such an amazing variety of events on offer, the building itself is iconic and the welcome from the staff is always warm.”

Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council, added; “We’re very proud of Gloucester Guildhall and the role it plays in the life of the city. I’m delighted it has achieved this recognition and I would urge everyone to vote for it to be the overall winner.”
Dan Charles, programming and marketing manager at Gloucester Guildhall, said; “We’re over the moon to get on the shortlist.

“We’re known for punching above our weight here, with acts such as Radiohead, Muse, Robert Plant, Foals and Super Furry Animals playing here over the years when really they shouldn’t have given a venue of our size a second glance. We also champion local music as much as we possibly can and ensure we programme a strong mix of music across as many genres as we can.

“I can’t really put into words how much we would appreciate people’s votes, it would mean the world.”

Voting for NME’s Best Small Venue opens on Monday. Simply visit www.nme.com/smallvenues, register, and then log in to cast your vote.
