And the only cinema in Gloucester showing The Hateful Eight is...

The Hatefull Eight in Gloucestershire

Gloucester Guildhall has announced it will show Quentin Tarantino’s controversial film The Hateful Eight – and they are the only cinema in the city that will be screening the gory western.

Earlier this month Cineworld, Picturehouse and Curzon announced they would not be showing the flick after failing to come to an agreement over the format in which the film can be shown: it is only available in 70mm format. This cast doubt over whether people in Gloucester would be able to see what has been described as “Tarantino’s masterpiece” in their home town.

However, Gloucester Guildhall has jumped to the rescue and will be showing the film from January 22nd until February 3rd.

Dan Charles, programming and marketing manager, said; “Tickets are flying out already, and our social media pages have gone wild over this. It’s great that an independent cinema like us can fill the void created by the big chains and satisfy the public demand.

“This reinforces the point that our cinema is the place in the city to come to watch alternative films. While we rub shoulders with the big boys and screen a number of box office hits, we also pride ourselves on showing the more esoteric titles.

“We listen to the public and do our best to programme what people want to see.”

Cllr Lise Noakes, cabinet member for culture and leisure at Gloucester City Council, said; “It’s fantastic that we’re able to show one of 2016’s biggest films in the city.

“Where the major cinema groups have failed, our team at Gloucester Guildhall succeeded and now residents will have their chance to watch a Tarantino classic!”

Tickets for The Hateful Eight (18) are on sale now from www.gloucesterguildhall.co.uk or by calling 01452 503050. Parking in King’s Walk Car Park (which has access to Gloucester Guildhall from the roof) is free from 5pm and the venue’s bar will be open before screenings.
