Pretty Vicious lead first Underground Festival line-up announcement
Pretty Vicious, one of the most talked about new bands in the country, will headline Saturday night at Gloucester Guildhall’s annual Underground Festival.
The Welsh rockers uploaded their first single Cave Song to Soundcloud just over a year ago and the music industry went bananas. What followed for the teenagers was a a major label deal at Virgin EMI Records, regular plays on Radio 1, tours with Noel Gallagher, Johnny Marr and the Manic Street Preachers and slots on all the big festivals including Reading and Glastonbury, where they headlined the BBC Introducing Stage.
Joining them at this year’s Underground Festival, taking place on Saturday September 24th and Sunday September 25th, are The Hunna, Milk Teeth, Blood Youth, Crooks, Dead!, Beasts, Youth Man, The St Pierre Snake Invasion and Vitamin.
Dan Charles, festival organiser, said: “We’re over the moon to have Pretty Vicious headlining on Saturday night. They’re such an exciting band, being dubbed as ‘The UK’s next big guitar band’, following in the footsteps of Royal Blood and Wolf Alice.
“The lineup is packed with the best new acts on the circuit. It’s indicative of the talent coming through in this country at the moment – and we’re bringing it to your doorstep for a super cheap price.”
The first 100 weekend tickets are available at last year’s price of £10. Once they’re gone, the price will rise to £18. Day tickets at £10 each will go on sale in June.
“We want to reward those guys who keep coming back every year, so to grab a weekend ticket at last year’s price you’ll need to be quick,” Dan added.
“Underground Festival is the place to discover your new favourite band, and this year’s crop is one to get really excited about.”
Also announced today are NGOD, Anteros, Willie J Healey, Milestones, Ardyn, Into the Ark, ICYMI, Ten Tombs and Devon.
In total there will be 44 acts playing across two stages at this year’s event, with genres varying from indie to metal and from punk to pop. Doors will open at 12.30pm on both days.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday April 5th, at 10am from www.gloucesterguildhall.co.uk, 01452 503050, or directly from Gloucester Guildhall’s box office.
