Yule be sad to miss out as Guildhall Christmas show nears sell out

Breaking the Ice at Gloucester Guildhall

Schools and groups in the city are being called upon to book their tickets for Gloucester Guildhall’s Christmas show ‘Breaking the Ice’ before it’s too late.

From 5th to 10th December, the city centre venue is putting on 13 performances of Filskit Theatre Company’s fantastic show, in partnership with Strike a Light Theatre Company.

Due to immense demand, just two of the performances (the 5pm shows on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th) have tickets remaining and groups and schools are being called upon to book quickly to save missing this superb show.

Cllr Lise Noakes, cabinet member for culture and leisure at Gloucester City Council, said: “We knew this show would be popular but tickets have sold much quicker than we imagined!

“The show is going to be great and the schools that have already booked are really excited about it. I’d recommend getting in touch quickly if anyone would like to snap up tickets for the remaining two shows before they sell out.”

The interactive production (aimed at two to five year-olds and their families) is inspired by a true story about the unlikely friendship between a wild polar bear and husky, a story made famous via videos on YouTube.

Children will have the opportunity to get on stage, play with the characters and experience interactive digital projections at the end of the show.

Katy Costigan, Artistic Director Filskit Theatre Company, said: “We are very excited to bring Breaking the Ice to Gloucester - having grown up in the area I am really pleased to bring my work home.

“We hope everyone enjoys our arctic adventure brought to you in partnership with Gloucester Guildhall and Strike A Light.
