Swathes of snowdrops at beautiful Batsford Arboretum

Swathes of snowdrops at beautiful Batsford Arboretum

Visitors to Batsford Arboretum, near Moreton in Marsh, are being treated to a magnificent display of snowdrops this month, marking the start of a spring-flowering bulb extravaganza.

Each year, the display of snowdrops gets more and more impressive and this year Head Gardener Matthew Hall and his team of gardeners have planted a further 8,000 snowdrops, totalling 30,000 in the last three years. It means visitors can enjoy swathes of the spring flowering beauties – as well as early flowering daffodils, cyclamen, aconites and magnificently-scented daphnes - adorning the gently sloping 56 acre arboretum, a wonderfully optimistic sight and reminder of warmer and drier days to come. Snowdrops ‘in the green’ are also available to buy at Batsford Garden Centre for those wishing to create an instant display at home.

Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre is open every day from 9am to 5pm (10am-5pm on Sundays). More information is available from www.batsarb.co.uk.
