Hitting the right notes – music at the Everyman

The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham is staging sizzling nights of top class music at the end of the month.
 
The Carpenters Story (May 24) will captivate with its spectacular re-creation of the classic songbook that made The Carpenters a legend in the world of popular music.
The outstanding vocal talents of Claire Furley and pianist/artistic director Phil Aldridge take centre-stage, accompanied by Richard Carpenter’s original orchestral arrangements with live musicians.  The concert features all of the Carpenters hit songs including: (They Long To Be) Close To You, Yesterday Once More, We’ve Only Just Begun, Superstar, A Song For You, Rainy Days & Mondays, and many more!
 
The beat changes on Friday (May 25) as Lee Memphis King steps out for One Night of Elvis.  Europe’s most successful Elvis Presley tribute artist, recreates the essence of the King with stunningly accurate vocals and incredible passion in every performance.
In this latest production, Lee Memphis King portrays Elvis Presley at his peak celebrating the iconic ‘Vegas Years’ from 1969 - 1977. Resplendent in the most authentic costumes from Elvis’s performance and an orchestra backing this incredible performer prepare to be taken back in time to see Elvis in the way it was.
 
Expect lots of dancing in the aisles on Friday (May 26) as all of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits are performed live in Forever Jackson.
Thirty years ago Michael Jackson’s famed Bad Tour hit the UK. The concerts grossed £100m, supporting an album that was No.1 in 25 countries, shifting an incredible 45 million copies. Five of its songs topped the UK charts.

Forever Jackson captures the moment with superb musicianship, electrifying choreography, stunning audio visual projections and jaw-dropping special effects. More than that, it takes you from The Jackson 5, through The Jacksons and on to Jackson’s rise to become The King of Pop.
