"Peace Doves" Art Installation at Tewkesbury Abbey
Tewkesbury Abbey is hosting the remarkable "Peace Doves" art installation by renowned sculptor Peter Walker from 1st to 27th February. Featuring 8,000 paper doves adorned with messages of peace from the community, this stunning exhibit offers a serene space for reflection, accompanied by an evocative music score by David Harper.
In collaboration with The Roses Theatre, local schoolchildren and community groups contributed to the creation of the doves, adding personal reflections on peace. Visitors can experience this breathtaking display after sunset throughout February.
Peter Walker is an internationally acclaimed sculptor and fine artist known for his powerful and reflective public art installations. With over 20 years of experience, his work has been featured in prestigious venues such as the British Embassy in Paris, the University Church in Oxford, and St. Chad's Cathedral in Canada. Walker’s art often explores themes of peace, community, and contemplation, creating spaces that invite viewers to engage deeply with the artwork. His installations, including the renowned "Peace Doves," have captivated audiences across the UK, transforming historic venues into sanctuaries of shared reflection and hope.
