Robert Dover's Cotswold Olimpick Games
Friday 30 May 2025
Step back in time with Dover's Games, a traditional and rustic celebration dating back to 1612 when Robert Dover first organised the event to entertain the people of Chipping Campden. Held annually on Dover’s Hill, the games feature eccentric and historic sporting challenges including shin-kicking, tug-of-war, standing jump, wrestling, and distance races—along with equine displays and more.
As the sun sets, the festivities continue with a torchlit procession leading into the heart of the town. A roaring bonfire, spectacular fireworks, and live music bring the community together for an unforgettable evening of dancing and celebration in the square.
A unique blend of heritage and revelry, Dover's Games is a must-see event in the Cotswolds calendar.
Please note:
For safety reasons, dogs and alcohol are strictly prohibited on the hill during the event.
