Trick or Treet Week at Birdland

Saturday 26 October – Sunday 3 November 2024

'Trick or Tweet' Week at Birdland – A Family-Friendly Attraction in the Cotswolds

Birdland Park and Gardens, one of the top family visitor attractions in the Cotswolds, is set to host its popular ‘Trick or Tweet’ Week from Saturday 26th October to Sunday 3rd November 2024. Perfect for a fun and educational day out, this October Half Term event promises excitement for all ages.

Event Highlights:

  • Upon arrival, visitors can pick up a special ‘Trick or Tweet’ map, guiding them on a fascinating journey through Birdland.
  • The challenge? Find all 8 hidden posters around the park! Each poster contains a letter, and when collected, these letters will help crack a secret word.
  • Solve the word and claim a prize! Be sure to record all the letters as you explore.

Daily Bird Talks and Foraging Fun

During the holidays, Birdland’s smartest avian residents will be demonstrating their impressive foraging skills. In a series of daily talks, keepers will hide creepy crawlies inside pumpkins to encourage the birds to forage for their food, using their natural instincts.

Among the stars of the daily pumpkin challenge are:

  • Cassowaries – one of the largest birds on the planet.
  • Kea – a super-smart parrot from New Zealand.
  • Hornbills – using their powerful beaks to break into pumpkins.
  • Striated Caracara – a clever bird of prey showing off its intelligence.

Discover the Myths and Legends of Birds

As part of the ‘Trick or Tweet’ celebrations, visitors can also:

  • Learn why owls are thought to be so wise.
  • Uncover the origins of the legend of the phoenix.
  • Find out which bird call the Romans believed signalled imminent death.

General Information: Birdland is home to over 500 birds, ranging from birds of prey and parrots to cassowaries and cranes. It is also the only place in England with a breeding colony of king penguins.

  • Location: Birdland Park and Gardens, Rissington Rd, Bourton-on-the-Water, Glos, GL54 2BN
  • Opening Hours: Open daily from 10am (closed on Christmas Day).

This October Half Term, ‘Trick or Tweet’ Week at Birdland promises a fun-filled, educational adventure for the whole family. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see Birdland’s remarkable birds in action!
