The Buddy Holly Story: REVEIW

Buddy at the Everyman review

‘Oh Boy’ what a great show!

Buddy Holly had a musical career of less than two years but the rock and roll star left us an amazing legacy of music.  Recreated here by extremely talented singers, musicians and actors ‘The Buddy Holly Story’ tells of the drive and belief Holly had in his, at the time, risqué style of music - rock and roll.
Glen Joseph as Buddy looks the part, sounds like the man himself and is utterly convincing as the gawky, talented musician.  There are excellent set pieces too from Lydia Fraser belting out ‘Shout’ and Jason Blackwater singing ‘Chantilly Lace’.
Find out the raunchy reason why Holly’s song was called ‘Peggy Sue’, indulge yourself in the rock and roll that was described at the time as a ‘communicable disease’ and join the rest of the audience singing and dancing to the infectious music at the end of the show.

Buddy runs until Saturday 9 September .

  • Time: 7.45pm  Tues - Thurs. 5pm on Fri, matinees at 2pm on Thurs & Sat
