Experience a festive feast of lights at Westonbirt this Christmas

Experience a festive feast of lights at Westonbirt this Christmas

Tickets on sale for Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum

As the days become shorter, nights become colder and families start to make their festive plans the Forestry Commission has released tickets for this year’s Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt.

The signature event at The National Arboretum in Gloucestershire features a magical one mile trail illuminated trail highlighting the striking structures within Westonbirt’s magnificent tree collection.

Starting on Friday 28 November the spectacle will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening until Sunday 21 December.

The opening night will start at 4.45pm with a stunning lantern parade led by Father Christmas and his reindeer with the Christmas Fairy illuminating the trees as they go.

The event has now been running for over ten years and each year the lighting display is redesigned so regular visitors can experience different species, paths and vistas which showcase the vast tree collection in a very special light.

As well as enjoying the majestic beauty of the towering trees lit by thousands of festive lights, visitors will have the chance to meet entertaining stilt-walkers, Jack Frost, the Christmas Fairy and a very tall reindeer and Father Christmas will be on hand for children to share their Christmas wish lists and receive an early present.

New this year will be an undercover picnic area where people can enjoy tasty treats from the food and drink stands, including traditional hot chestnuts, mulled wine, hog roasts and toffee apples.

In the picnic foodie area visitors will also be able to find beautiful handcrafted wooden decorations for sale as well as illuminated toys.

At the end of the one mile trail the Learning Centre will be open for lots of family craft activities and local choirs will entertain visitors with carol singing.

The Westonbirt Plant Centre and Shop which will be open for late night shopping will also have plenty of Christmas gifts and treats on offer.

Tickets cost £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and £5 for children. On Fridays, Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum get half price admission on adult tickets and their children go free.

Advanced tickets can be purchased from www.forestry.gov.uk/westonbirt-christmas, or by calling 03000 680 400.

Enchanted Christmas will open at 17:00 to 20:30, with last entry to the car park at 19:15 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from November 28 to Sunday 21 December.
