Relaxed Performance of Cinderella at the Everyman Theatre
This year, for the first time ever, the Everyman Theatre is introducing a Relaxed Performance of the pantomime, Cinderella, aimed at making the show as accessible as possible.
This performance will take place on Tuesday 5th January at 10am. Relaxed Performances are open to everyone, however this performance of the Christmas show is suitable for children and adults with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory and communication disorders, those with learning disabilities and for families with young (pre-school) children.
The theatre is also encouraging people with dementia and anyone who would prefer to enjoy live theatre in a more relaxed environment. There will be small changes to the production itself, with sound levels adapted and lights remaining on low in the auditorium during the performance and the atmosphere will be relaxed. Audience members are welcome to come and go during the show and a designated ‘chill-out’ area will be provided for people to use.
Everyman Theatre spokesperson, Sally-ann Rhodes said: “We’re thrilled to be able to offer our first main house Relaxed Performance and hope to move forward to be able to offer more Access performances in the future. We already offer Audio Described performances for the visually impaired and Captioned and BSL performances for the hearing impaired. We hope this enables everyone to enjoy the wonderful experience of live theatre. When a booking is made, we will be in touch to discuss access needs, and can organise an orientation visit before the day and provide a story board.”
Tickets can be booked on 01242 572573 or everymantheatre.org.uk and for further information contact Sally-ann Rhodes on 01242 695574.
