The event will be attended by Robert Bernays, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Gloucestershire and Lady Bathurst, the county’s High Sheriff.

Lloyd Griffiths, Head of Neighborhood Services, said: “Gloucester has a rich and deep history with the monarchy of which we are very proud, and lighting the beacon at Robinswood Hill is in recognition and celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

“Over the last couple of months communities from across the City have done a great job in supporting Clean for the Queen events across Gloucester and I hope residents enjoy seeing the beacon lit on Thursday evening as we wish the Queen a very Happy Birthday.

The public are very welcome to come along to watch the beacon being lit, but are advised to wear the appropriate clothing and footwear, and be prepared that the descent would be in darkness.
