REVIEW: Dracula at The Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham
The new production of Bram Stoker’s Dracula by The Touring Consortium Theatre Company, opened its UK tour in Cheltenham at the Everyman Theatre this week.
The audience knew they were in for an interesting evening of gothic horror during the first opening moments.
The stage set was perfect for the performance and changed with flawless ease throughout. The superb lighting and sound effects were also extremely impressive.
The cast played out the classic horror story to a full house with a few familiar faces among them, Cheryl Campbell who played the lunatic Lady Renfield, and Philip Bretherton who played Professor Van Helsing.
This performance features some pretty impressive special effects but for me it lacked a certain amount of blood.
I think this play will have audiences divided. You will either love it or perhaps have you thinking it could have been so much more…
Dracula runs until Saturday at The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, before it embarks on its UK Tour.
