NOW OPEN: The Ghosts of Berkeley Castle – Sculpture Exhibition

NOW OPEN: The Ghosts of Berkeley Castle – Sculpture Exhibition

The latest exhibition to open at Berkeley Castle is proving to be a big hit with its latest visitors.

Jackie Lantelli, whose ghostlike sculptures of WWI soldiers at Slimbridge brought hordes of visitors to the churchyard last November has been working closely with fellow sculptor Sadie Kitchen and the castle staff to bring this latest exhibition to fruition. The resulting historical figures from the castle’s history have been brought back to life and are strategically placed throughout the castle and grounds.

Sculptures include the doomed Edward II in his cell; Elizabeth I, ready with her crossbow to kill the Earl of Berkeley’s prize stags and Dicky Pearce, the jester who fell from the Minstrel’s Gallery.  This is an unmissable exhibition which adds to the visitor experience as you wander around grand rooms and grounds taking in the rich historical past of Berkeley Castle.

Berkeley Castle is open from Sunday to Wednesday each week until the end of October 10.30am – 5pm (last admission 4pm). Berkeley Castle is located at Berkeley, Gloucestershire, GL13 9PJ. Tel: 01453 810303. For further information about the Castle and all events for 2019, please visit www.berkeley-castle.com. Follow the Castle on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
