Free Family Event in Cheltenham - The Holst 150 Birthday Party
Holst Birthplace Museum Hosts Free Event Celebrating Gustav Holst’s 150th Birthday
Cheltenham, 21 September 2024 – The Holst Birthplace Museum invites the community to celebrate Gustav Holst’s 150th birthday with a free, family-friendly event at Imperial Gardens. This unique occasion, held from 1 pm to 6 pm, will showcase a variety of musical performances and creative activities.
Musical Performances: Attendees can enjoy a diverse range of music on the Mars Stage, featuring classical, folk, and experimental genres. Performances include:
- Cheltenham Silver Band
- Cheltenham Philharmonic
- Nethra Academy of Indian Dance
Art and Craft Workshops: Families will have the opportunity to engage in art and craft workshops from 2 pm to 5 pm in the Make, Create area. Activities include:
- Cut-out lyrebird sculptures
- Paper planets
- Mural making
- Letterpress printing
Holst’s Spaceship Earth: The event will also feature Holst’s Spaceship Earth, a multi-sensory creative technology experience. Visitors can explore:

- SubPac Bass Sonic Feels

Picnic and Dining Options: Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic or enjoy food and drink from the many nearby cafes and restaurants around Imperial Square.
