Sandford Lido Update
Sandford Lido, Cheltenham
The Victorian opening extravaganza scheduled for the bank holiday weekend of 5-7 May 2007 has been postponed.
The long awaited refurbishment of the 1930s pool has not progressed as well as expected with problems sealing the pool walls.
The first day of the season was to be a celebration of the Lidos history, with the entrance charge returning to 2p and staff in traditional Victorian costume. Cheltenham Silver Band were booked to play and a selection of traditional games was to be organised around the pool.In all a brilliant day for the start of the season. However, rest assured that contractors are working hard to get the Lido open as soon as possible and we will inform you as soon as we know when this is.
Many of us have been visiting the Lido since we were children and we are sure that you are looking forward to taking your own children - it's a bit of a Cheltenham tradition and we are extremely pleased that so much money has been raised to keep it open.
