A day in the life of Figaro

Open air opera with Opera Brava

Described by William Morris as; “The most beautiful village in England”, the romantic Cotswold haven of Bibury will once again this summer play host to the UK’s principal touring opera company, Opera Brava.

Following the success of last year’s operas The Company are returning to Bibury Court Hotel near Cirencester this season as a part of their 2009 national tour which begins in June.

On Friday the 31st of July the Coln Valley will host Puccini’s classic love chronicle; La Boheme and on Saturday the 1st of August guests will review Mozart’s ‘A day in the life of Figaro’- The Marriage of Figaro. Says Bronek Pomorski, Artistic Director of Opera Brava; “We are always asked about the weather, this comes with the job, and we were blessed last year at Bibury winning the finest two days of the summer! Of course I can’t guarantee the elements this time round but I can promise two very popular and strong operatic performances by a professional cast who are in rehearsals as we speak!”

Bibury Court Hotel, a timeless building erected in 1633 is under new management and the General Manager Rupert Elliott was as enthusiastic as ever when approached by event organisers EXPO Promotions who asked if the Opera could return for another season; “We are fortunate enough to be positioned in an idyllic setting here at Bibury Court Hotel. There are seven acres of beautiful, tranquil lawns and gardens and Opera Brava couldn’t have chosen a finer location for their Cotswold opera and it is a pleasure to welcome them back once again.

For the second year Cotswold Life are the Main Sponsor of this blissful Cotswold operatic event and Editor Mike Lowe with his team are as keen as ever to help make the gathering another resounding success; “Cotswold Life is delighted to be sponsoring Opera Brava at Bibury Court again this year. A lovely time was had by all last summer and we are looking forward to another balmy weekend of picnics and glorious singing!” says Mike.
